RECEIVING GRACE THROUGH THE SACRAMENTS

Krystal Montgomery and Roland Flasch

The days have been getting longer and we have been seeing more of the sun lately. Sometimes the sun burns so brightly that we cannot help but feel its radiance. We are drawn to it. The same can be said about God. When we are filled with the Holy Spirit, His light can’t help but radiate from us to those around us. The way we live out our faith draws others to us. They want that for themselves.

During this Easter season, we witness the graces He gives us through the sacraments. First, at the Easter Vigil as new Catholics enter into the church, to our children receiving their first communion, and then at confirmation. It is through these sacraments, that we are all drawn closer to God. This is especially true as we watch the young members of our community take another step in their faith and recognize the real presence of Christ in their lives.

As we age, sometimes we lose that reckless trust in God that we had as a child. We pray that you take a moment to recall what God hoped for all of you when those graces were first received… to remember what it was like to have childlike faith in Him. Maybe we need to find our way back to that time in our lives. Perhaps that will allow us to be more open to His plan for us, and not just our own.
