St. John the Evangelist, Birchwood, WI - Stained Glass

Church History

Welcome to St. John the Evangelist in Birchwood, WI!

This church boasts an altar that was hand-carved by Fr. Clarence Ludwig (pastor in 1953). At that time, he had a workshop built near the rectory. He constructed the altar and many carvings found in the church today and it is built almost entirely with dimensional birch wood. Truly a stunning sight!

In 1991, a parishioner helped to erect a bell tower using a bell from Our Lady of the Mount, a Catholic church in Pribram that was closed after World War II.

Today, most Masses will enjoy the sound of a harp playing from the balcony.
