Hush Today Is Holy
Ezra has just finished reading the holy scrolls to the people. We are told tears are falling from their eyes, but not from sadness, but from understanding the words spoken to them. The people realize they have fallen away but recognize God forgives and wants them to return to Him. Perhaps we experience that in our day, too. Perhaps not as noticeable but often at mass people come into church and as they participate in mass tears begin to fall down their cheeks. We do not know why. Maybe it is sadness? The burdens they carry. But it could be the love of God touching their hearts.
People share some of stories occasionally. After one school mass, one of the children who is not Catholic asked if she could share something with me. She said that she had a cyst that required surgery. And that the people of her church prayed for her and she knew she would be healed. She went through surgery and the cyst was removed. That would have been enough said but she continued. This experienced moved me in a special way. I know God is with me. And I will continue to pray and do the best I can. That touches your heart, does it not? It is stories like this remind me just how holy today is. Listen. Listen to God. He is working through you.
