God’s Direction

We wonder if we are fulfilling God’s Will for us. Are we going in the right direction? At times it seems that we are doing what God wants us to do, but then something comes up and just like Paul, we are prevented from doing it. Looking back, we can say, yes, we were doing God’s Will, what stopped us? If we are doing the work of God as directed by the Holy Spirit, why couldn’t we finish?

In the spiritual world, there are twists and turns, redirection, and pressing forward just as there is in the earthly realm. In this spiritual world we might think we are always locked into what God’s Will is, so we are shocked when we are doing His work and suddenly, we need to change direction. Seems a bit confusing. But I don’t think so.

God ‘sees’ everything all the time. We do not. So if He wants us to do something for a short period of time, stop, and gives us new directions, it is because He knows what He is doing. We don’t.

Paul thought he was going to evangelize Asia. God prevented him from doing so, redirecting him to Greece and Europe. Paul perceived the redirection as God’s plan. We should do the same.

When we think we know what we are doing we better check in with God. Staying in contact with God helps us to discern His Will so we can be receptive to making changes when He needs us to evangelize somewhere else.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
