Today’s New Adventure

We are reading from the first book of Samuel. It begins with Samuel’s family before he is born. His mother Hannah is saddened and depressed because she is barren. Hannah’s feelings are real for us today. Ever desired something so much that you could not eat. All you could do is focus on the object of your desire. Even when her husband would try to console her it would be to no avail. Perhaps Hannah felt as if she were the worst wife in the world. It is an exaggeration, but we have experienced those moments, too.

But there is an adventure beginning to develop for Hannah. There is an adventure beginning to develop for each of us today. It is when we turn inward to focus on what we lack or think we need we fail to see God working in us and around us. Hannah had a living husband who really tried to show his love and devotion to her. We forget to see those around us. God has placed different people in our lives to prepare us for the adventure He has in mind for us. Watch for those who you meet today. Are they contributing to your adventure? Be sure to turn to God in prayer in praise and worship today.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and if the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
