Did the Bishop See His Shadow? Deacon Rod Knight

February 11th, 2024

SIX MORE WEEKS OF BEING CATHOLIC! It is Groundhog Day as I write this. It has been a weird winter. But for most winters we are knee deep in the fluffy white stuff, tired of freezing temperatures and repositioning snow by this time. Then that groundhog has the audacity to predict six more weeks of winter. We continue the repetitive cycle of going through the motions until those lying robins arrive. Why are we just going through the motions? Winter in Wisconsin brings with it a unique beauty and gives opportunities to experience things we cannot in any other season. We should not fall into a rut in winter, or in being Catholic. It is not about going through the motions. I hope you felt the enthusiasm of SIX MORE WEEKS OF BEING CATHOLIC! Everyday is a gift, an opportunity to love God and neighbor. We should recognize the beauty of our faith and embrace the opportunities to gain experience, to grow, to serve, to love, and come closer to our Creator. How is our Mass attendance? Are we focused on the Mass? How is our prayer life? Are we reading Sacred Scripture? Are we involved? Are we giving back with our time, talent, and treasure? Are we using our gifts that God has given us? The more we learn about our faith the more beautiful it becomes. The more we follow our faith and God’s will the more beautiful we become, and the more beautiful the world becomes.
