The Army’s Green Berets “the Special Forces” are an elite unconventional force used to conduct a multitude of missions. They are combatants and major players in modern day warfare, but they are also teachers/instructors. They are advisors and can embed themselves within a foreign military and aid them in their operations.
The Green Berets can go into a foreign land and literally build a military force from the civilian population. They can train the trainers, teaching people how to and aiding them in doing the same. They are force multipliers. I hear the thinking, is our Deacon moonlighting as a recruiter? No moonlighting as a recruiter.
I will inform you that the military has helped me in service to our Lord. I served on a twelve-man team, so did the Apostles. The Green Beret motto is “De Oppresso Liber”, to free the oppressed. Read Luke 4: 18 and God has called us to free the oppressed from poverty and sin.
my focus here is not the United States Army, it is the Army of God. We are spiritual warriors in the Church Militant fighting an intense war against the evil one and his minions. Yes, our eternal lives and souls are at risk. Force multipliers, 1,422 billion baptized Catholics worldwide which is about 18% of the global population. 1,422 billion a result from the original force multipliers, Jesus Christ and His Apostles.
Missionaries, small groups, and in our individual encounters we are force multipliers of the “Good News”. Today’s first reading from Isaiah “All you who are thirsty, come to the water!” The Gospel proclaims, “When it was evening, the disciples approached him and said, “This is a deserted place, and it is already late; dismiss the crowds so that they can go to the villages and buy food for themselves.” Jesus said to them, “There is no need for them to go away; give them some food yourselves.”
Change your thoughts from physical hunger to spiritual hunger. We feed each other, as Catholics we are always coming together and breaking bread (Picnic and Praise, the 8th Sacrament fellowship after Mass, Easter, Christmas) and through St. Vincent de Paul SVdP and other charitable organizations we want to eliminate hunger.
How are we dealing with feeding spiritual hunger? Are we uncomfortable, and think that is the clergies job? Does Christ look comfortable being crucified? We are not called to comfort but to suffer with our own crosses. The Catechism of the Catholic Church 905 “Lay people also fulfill their prophetic mission by evangelization, that is, the proclamation of Christ by word and testimony of life.” We are by the instruction of Christ to be force multipliers of our faith and our Church aiding us in our own sanctification.
Lost souls are wandering everywhere, searching for something, without knowing it is not something but someone- Jesus Christ. Opportunity awaits, remember this article calling you to arms when opportunity arrives to free the oppressed! May God grant us the Christian Courage to proclaim the truth at every given opportunity.
