ARE WE IMITATIONS OF CHRIST? JOIN US AT A WELCOME RETREAT…
Deacon Rod Knight
I have a new best friend! After Sunday 9 am Mass I was loading my truck and just climbed into the driver’s seat when I saw the Dickey family approaching me. I rolled down the window and Elizabeth told me we need to resolve something. She had my attention, she explained to me their son Declan thought I was Jesus. WOW! I found humor in that. We assured Declan that I was not Jesus. But I realized that I had just received the greatest compliment of my life. I am not sure how Jesus feels about the mistaken identity. But the reality is that Declan was living the Gospel, he was seeing Christ in me. Again, a child being an example of how to live our faith. Are we not called to imitate Christ, to look for Him in others and love our neighbors? Thank you, Declan, for that example! As adults are we imitations of Christ? Are we seeing Jesus in others? Are we loving them? Are we growing in communion with one another as the Body of Christ? No, then what is holding us back? Fear? Fear of what? Fear of love? I beg you to consider attending the upcoming Welcome Weekend. The Welcome Weekend will lead and encourage you to be like Declan and see Jesus Christ in each other, to grow closer to together, and yes to love one another. To embrace vulnerability and grow closer to God and neighbor, to live the Gospel. How frequently does Sacred Scripture tell us not to be afraid? The greatest failure of all is the failure NOT to try. Let us try to be more like Christ, to be more obedient to God, to practice what we preach, and try to attend this upcoming Welcome Weekend!
