Across the United States, the Catholic Church is experiencing exciting growth as many dioceses report record numbers of people entering the Church through OCIA and returning to the faith. In a time when many are searching for meaning, community, and truth, countless individuals are discovering the beauty of the Gospel and the richness of the sacraments. This growing movement reminds us that the Holy Spirit continues to work powerfully in the hearts of people of all ages and backgrounds. Here in our own parish community, we are blessed to be witnessing that same spirit of renewal and faith firsthand.
One clear sign of this growth is the continued success of our OCIA program. Over the past year, 17 individuals either entered the Catholic Church or completed their Sacraments of Initiation through Confirmation. This included 8 converts entering full communion with the Church and 9 Catholics completing sacraments they had not yet received. Through prayer, study, and formation alongside our OCIA team, these individuals have taken important steps in their faith journey and remind us that God continues to call people closer to Him. Even more encouraging, another 17 individuals and counting are currently registered for the next OCIA session. These men and women are preparing either to enter the Church or complete their remaining sacraments, and we invite our parish family to support them through prayer and encouragement.
At the same time, more adults are seeking opportunities to grow in faith and community through small groups, Evenings of Reflection, and Welcome. We recently completed the 8th round of Welcome, with nearly 30 new attendees participating over two retreat weekends. Interest in Welcome continues to spread throughout our surrounding communities as well as more people search for connection, renewal, and a deeper relationship with God.
This spirit of growth is also evident in our youth ministry and sacramental preparation programs. Most recently, 42 children received First Communion, and 18 Highschoolers received Confirmation. These celebrations brought great joy to our parish as families gathered to mark these important milestones of faith. Participation across all youth programs has reached its highest level in the past five years, reflecting a growing desire among families for faith-centered community and formation.
Over this past year we were privileged to be a part of the growth of faith, fellowship, and participation throughout parish life and look forward to what is to come. We are deeply grateful for the families, volunteers, catechists, and parishioners whose dedication helps make our parishes a welcoming and vibrant community. If you feel called to share your gifts in any capacity, please contact Krystal or Roland in the Religious Education and Evangelization office to learn how you can get involved.
