Guardian Angels

The last two weeks we have had several days where we have had feast days or memorials for angels. Today is a memorial for the Guardian Angels. Fitting we should celebrate this day. God has selected a specific angel for each person. They have a special power to help guard us and guide although I do not think we call upon our angel very often. In times of our trouble, we should ask for specific needs and insights from our angel. They continuously see the face of God while they are assigned to us. Makes you feel kind of special, does it not?

We are very quick to consult with specialists, doctors, managers, psychologists, and others when we need guidance or direction in earthly matters. We are not quite so quick to ask for assistance in spiritual matters. For example, do you have a patron saint? Do you know the patron saint of your parish? When was the last time you asked for their intercessory prayers for something in your life? I probably do not ask enough of my guardian angel, but I do ask for intercessory prayers from St Jude (patron saint of lost causes) and St Peregrine (patron saint of those suffering from cancer). Maybe this is a good time to ask my guardian angel to aid and assist the guardian angels of those who are battling cancer or other dire issues in their lives.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
