A King’s Secret

The book of Tobit comes to end. Raphael reveals his true nature, that of one of the seven angels who abide in God’s court. Raphael can now reveal not a King’s Secret, but the nature of God. Raphael also reveals that he was sent to test Tobit and his son Tobiah and to heal Tobit and provide a wife, Sarah, for Tobiah. Tobit tells his son to give half of everything he brought back. Raphael in turns teaches give honor and glory to God. Praise God in all you do. We are to understand everything we have comes from God. The best way to understand God is to really to the best we can and to help each other. Then we can thank God with a true heart and with a spirit of love.

The woman who gives her last coins gave what she had because of the love she had for God in her heart. We are given this example of charity, not that we are to give everything away, but to help us realize that everything we have comes from God. In time, it will all go back to God. But for now, how you choose to use God’s gift reflects your love and knowledge of God. Your conscience will guide you if you open your heart and mind to God. This weekend is the celebration of the Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ. This is the focus of our faith. Come join the celebration at your church.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
