Field Trip
The first reading from Acts reads like a year long field trip for Paul. They travelled many different places and were spreading the good news of Jesus’ Resurrection. Many churches were being formed and many people were baptized. A time of celebration and joy. It jogged my memory that this coming week for the children in our school age-appropriate field trips are planned. An exciting time for them to experience new things in our community. As adults we probably know many of these locations but have forgotten them. To our children it is an exciting time to get out of the classroom and do some exploring. Hands on education is a wonderful way to learn.
Many vacations are being planned or the final details worked out. Summer is a great time where we spend more time outdoors. One might think that activities at the church slow down over summer. That would be a falsehood. I think we experience a one-day break with the closing of the school for summer but then we have many things planned for the summer too. There will be Totus Tuus and Extreme Faith Camp in June. At the end of July, we will be celebrating Picnic and Praise, this year at Our Lady of Lourdes. Then in August we will have events to kick off the school year and the religious ed programs. And then we get one day to pause, we ask where did the summer go!
Just like the people of St. Paul’s time, we were out on a field trip sharing the faith and teaching the gospel message. It is such a great time to be a Catholic! Take your faith with you today on your special field trip.
May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
