Here are links to our readings for the day:

The Breakfast of Champions

God continues to provide food for all of us. Be it through miracles, or mass, or scripture reading, or prayer. In the gospel, the test was for the disciples. Where can they buy enough food for all the people following them.

If you only think of earthy things, you only get an earthly response. If you trust in God, the response is an abundance of everything we need. More than what you need as God is extremely generous.

Look at the Apostles in the first reading today. They continue to preach about Jesus crucified and raised from the dead. They aggravate the Jewish religious leaders so much that these so called religious have the Apostles flogged and thrown out with a stern warning to no longer teach in the name of Jesus.

What do they do? As soon as they leave the presence of the Jewish leaders, they are right back at it. Teaching and preaching Jesus. They must have had their Wheaties that morning. They are definitely spiritual champions for all of us to emulate.

Thinking of this, what did you have for breakfast this morning? Just earthly food. Or were you able to savor a spiritual breakfast of spending time with God?

A great way to start each day is with mass, truly being fed with the Body and Blood of Christ. The Bread of Life is the best nourishment anyone needs.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
