Preparing For the Holy Spirit

Jesus has been raised. Can’t we spend some time contemplating this mystery and worry about the Holy Spirit later? Sorry, not in the Catholic Church and certainly not with God. And I am not proposing we just think of the Holy Spirit coming on Pentecost but for the disciples these first few days after the Resurrection and for us today.

Jesus took three years to prepare His disciples for the Paschal Mystery. They witnessed the empty tomb. Their lives are changed. Now they must prepare for the coming of the Spirit.

The Spirit is working within Peter. Look at his boldness in speaking to others about Jesus. Three thousand were baptized. Most certainly the Holy Spirit is at work.

Jesus tells Mary to tell His brothers to go to Galilee and He will meet them there. There is no time to figure out the Resurrection. No, the Spirit is driving them to Galilee. It is time to go out into the world.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
