This Is the Way; Walk in It

Alright, it is Saturday, the first Saturday of December. What are your plans for today? May I guess? Let us see. Three weeks to Christmas but only two more Saturdays. Your first thought is: ok, do not panic. You can handle this. We got to get a tree. The kids have basketball practice.

Maybe I can write a few Christmas cards while they are at practice. Oh, and there is that party tonight. Why tonight? And I forgot, is it casual or that insidious business casual that means more formal than casual. I need to get a few more presents. Wait a minute, when am I going to get out the decorations? I am praying no one gets COVID. Do we have to have another turkey for Christmas? What is wrong with ham sandwiches!!

You know what I think? I think you better come to church. Maybe you are not sure you can fit it in. Please, for your own sanity, come to church this weekend. Why? You know why. I will tell you that you need to slow down and reflect on the real meaning of Christmas. I heard that. You just gave a Charlie Brown ‘Good grief!’ In your heart you know I am right. So come anyway. Maybe I can couch it in a better way that makes sense. Give me a chance, ok? This the way: walk in it.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen
