Can You Hardly

The excitement is building. This is the story of John’s birth and his father proclaiming his name John, which means God is benevolent. I am sure the story of how Zechariah learned that he and Elizabeth, in their elderly years, would have a son had been passed through the community. People knew Zechariah had been visited by an angel when it was his turn in the temple. Now his special son was to be born.  Can you hardly wait?! People knew there would be something special about this child. Zechariah could not speak; he had been struck mute. And then when the baby is born, he writes the name John on a tablet. And suddenly, he can speak. His name is John!

Can you hardly wait?! One more day and another Son will be born. An angel has visited Mary. She believed. She opened herself to God’s Will and believed. Can you hardly wait?! Perhaps you know a family that is expecting soon or have just received the gift of a new baby. Pray for them today. Thank God for another life gifted to us in this special season. Thank God for the gift of His Son to us. Then ask God to open your heart to the gifts He offers you.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
