Magnify the Lord
How can a simple human being magnify the Lord? It does not seem possible. The question is implying that a human can make God greater. When it comes to spiritual matters one must remember that there is an outward view and an inward view. An inward view is like selfishness. We are focused on ourselves. The attitude of what is in it for me dominates are thoughts and actions. If we do a good deed we want to be recognized and congratulated. Thinking like this is certainly not focused on God. We are more concerned about how great we are.
An outward view is not focused upon us. Rather, an outward view is how do we take God to others. Our actions and our deeds, do they reflect the greatness of God. Our words, do they proclaim the gospel message. Our lives, can people see God working through us. All these ways will magnify the Lord. When we clothe the naked, feed the hungry, give shelter to those in need, we magnify the Lord. And one of the most important things we can do today is offer prayers for others. Even Pope Francis has asked us to pray for others. What a remarkable way to magnify the Lord.
May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
