Your Descendants

Maybe you will have the time to read the entire chapter 48 of Isaiah. It is a chapter filled with rebukes and exhortations. Most of the chapter focuses on God demanding our obedience to Him. But in these few verses there is a bit of a shift. It is as if Isaiah is instructing us to be obedient to the words he is speaking also. Very bold for any prophet, even prophets of today. We are so caught up with being politically correct virtues tend to get watered down or forgotten.

With that as our foundation look at the verse “Your descendants would be like the sand, and those born of your stock like its grains, Their name never cut off or blotted out from my presence.” What is the fruit of the virtue of obedience? Your descendants. They will be as numerous as the sand. Your descendants will carry the seeds/grains of your wisdom to future generations. Your descendants will never be cut off from God or removed from His presence. Through your living the virtue of obedience you are giving your children and grandchildren a foundation for eternal life with the Father. And to carry this thought one step farther, you are participating not in past events but helping the new creation of your children’s children grow in faith as children of God. What you do today does have an impact for the people of the future.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father, and the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Amen
