Invitations
We do not hear of the missing wedding garment in this gospel reading. But we hear of a master who flew into a rage when the people invited did not come. Instead he invited anyone out in the streets. He even made people come. I do not think our God flies into a rage nor does He make people come. But we should consider the invitation to all.
I have offered a party to friends, planning every detail. But on the date there were a number of cancellations. I did not think of inviting everyone. I wonder why not? There are people who do things for me. For example the person who delivers the mail. Or people who bring packages. There are people who do home repairs. People who repair my car. I have a friendship with them but did not think to invite them. Again the question why not? There would have been plenty of space and food for all. As I look back at these different times in my life I see them now as missed opportunities. Times where I could developed or deepened a relationship but missed the opportunity.
How about you? The people in your life. Are you missing opportunities for greater relationships? Finally, the invitation Jesus has given you, have you run out of excuses? He is ready to welcome you. Dear Sisters and Brothers,
May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
