My Words Will Not Pass Away
We witness the final judgement in Revelation. Beginning with those who have died for the faith, the martyrs. First those who were beheaded. Those who suffered terrible pain. Those who drowned. Then all the dead are brought forward. The judgement is for either heaven or hell.
I cannot begin to imagine how many have been martyred for the faith. I have heard it said that there will be more martyrs this year than in all the previous years combined. It is a depressing thought. I also reflect that the world has not changed much since the time of Jesus.
Why do these trials and tribulations need to continue? Well, I intuitively know the answer lies in the fact that humankind has not changed. An impulse decision would be let’s get out there and tell people how wrong and how bad they are! And we know that seldom works.
The words of God are just as true today as they were two thousand years ago. They have not changed. The truth has no need to change. The truth will always be. Those who understand the truth need to be the words that do not pass away.
We still need to go out to the world. We need to support our family and friends. We need to be the beacons of love and life. The nights are longer, and the darkness comes earlier each day. Advent is the preparation time for the coming of light. May you add to the light of the world.
May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Amen
