Ready to start Advent?

Cases continue to increase. Vaccines are being promised. Votes are still being counted. Schools are becoming virtual. The list goes on. Some people say this is “the end.” And Jesus says, “Don’t follow them.” Nor should we allow them to create despair or anxiety in our lives. Why? Because we have hope.

Think for a minute. We’ve had earthquakes and hurricanes. We have had snow and warm weather in November. And what have we done? When it’s cold, we put on a coat. When it’s hot, we take off our coats. When nature destroys someone’s house, we take a step forward and pick up the pieces and help them start over. We help people put their lives back together. We find ways to educate our children. We do all this even in difficult circumstances. This makes you feel a little special, doesn’t it?

You are special because you know there is more than what happens here in this world. We are children of God, and we know that God is in control. Therefore, recognize the devil as the one that makes you despair or fall into feelings of despair. Rather, know that you can turn to God right now. God offers you peace and joy. We start Advent this weekend. It’s going to be different this year, but we know Jesus is coming into the world. He’s coming into our world. Accept His peace and joy.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
