Eyes of Faith
Why would people try to stop the blind man from getting to Jesus? The custom of the day is Jesus would be talking and teaching as He walked. The reading suggests that Jesus has quite a crowd around him because they were noisy. Perhaps the people were just focused on trying to hear Jesus. Perhaps they were not listening but just wanted to be in the parade.
It was calamitous so much that the blind man had to yell to be heard. This makes it remarkable that Jesus heard the blind man. Jesus could have just ignored the noise altogether and missed the blind man.
God does not miss us in the noise of this world. He continues to seek us. We should not be afraid to yell out for God. We should know that God always hears the cry of the poor. To be heard today we need to have eyes of faith. We may not see God but we sense when He is near. We can feel His loving presence. We become totally aware when we are in His presence. Do we understand that God is always with us?
May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
