Mass Of Remembrance

Days are now noticeably shorter. Temperature is turning colder. Most of the trees have lost their leaves. And of course, the children are thinking of all the treats they will get for Halloween. But as we grow older our thoughts turn more to our memories of loved ones who have left this earth to be with God. No matter how many years it has been to someone who loves, time has no meaning. We remember. Perhaps that is why time has no meaning for God. Loved by God we are always in His thoughts.

This afternoon at the Our Lady of Lourdes 4:00 PM Mass and St Joseph 4:30 PM Mass we will have a time for remembrance. At the end of mass, for a short time, the Blessed Sacrament will be exposed. You will be able to light a candle for your deceased loved one. After a short period of quiet prayer, a blessing will be offered. We offer this quiet time to allow you to remember. For you to offer prayers of intercession on their behalf. A time to just pray.

O God, who willed that your Only Begotten Son, having conquered death, should pass over into the realm of haven, grant, we pray, to your departed servants that, with the mortality of this life overcome, they may gaze eternally on you, their Creator and Redeemer. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
