The Tactics of the Devil
Jesus wants us to gather around Him. Jerusalem, Jerusalem means a calling of all people. Spiritually we can all come together in Christ.
What then separates us from the love of Christ? I think there are many things in our lives competing for our attention. These “things” start out small and insignificant but quickly grow and overtake our hearts and our minds.
For example, news reports on television or radio. It is good to be informed. But at this time of year with elections looming within days, the advertisements are really meant to cause division and anger. So much so, television stations do their own fact finding on these ads and tell us what the truth is.
Why wouldn’t there just be truth? Because the devil is trying to cause anxiety and fear in our lives. We lead extremely busy lives allowing us only seconds to make important decisions. We are critical of ourselves and others with no thought of forgiveness or mercy for others because we feel we are not a forgiven people. There are too many people clamoring for your time and attention.
We are told to put on spiritual armor. We need it just to get through the day. We must be certain that all these tactics of the devil are to move us away from Jesus.
These tactics do not define who we are. They do not rule our lives unless we drop our armor and try to tackle them on our own. No, turn to Jesus and stay strong in your faith. Do not give in to the temptations of the world but focus on eternal life.
May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
