Signs

No sign but the sign of Jonah will be given you. When you ask for a sign from God what do you ask? A sign that He is here? Or that He is out there somewhere? A sign that your prayer will be answered? We want signs, we want assurance. But I think we look in the wrong places and that we are enticed by the wrong signs. For example, there are signs that tell us how to be youthful, intelligent, smell better, hear better, see better, work faster, eat healthier and so on. But to do all these things. Do they really make a difference? Do they make a difference that really matters?

Jonah was giving a sign on how to get to heaven. Jesus says this is the only sign you need, the only sign you will get. Repent and turn from your wicked ways. Trust in the grace God grants you each day. When temptation presents itself stop and remember the sign of Jonah. There are always two choices. Choosing to do good or choosing to do bad. It takes courage and wisdom, but you can do it. Jesus died on the cross to prove that He is with you. But if you fall, pick yourself up, dust off the dirt and resolve to do better. You really can.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
