St Thomas Aquinas

This has been a week of great teachers. Monday was the conversion of Saint Paul. Tuesday, we celebrated the Bishops Timothy and Titus. Wednesday was St Angela Merici. Saint Paul taught the world through his letters that are now in the New Testament. Saint Paul also taught and ordained Timothy and Titus. They were influential in spreading the faith. Saint Angela was orphaned at an early age. But a little after her fifteenth birthday began developing and building Catholic schools for girls. Today we celebrate Saint Thomas Aquinas. An amazing intellect who wrote much in support of the Catholic Church and in development of our theology. Even today, seminarians spend time studying his Summa Theologica.

All these saints really are true examples of today’s gospel. Let your light shine! We may not be all great intellects regarding the faith or theology. But we are all greatly loved in the eyes of God. And our God has given each of us a special light. We are to be good stewards of this gift. Hiding our light, covering it, or trying to douse the flame only brings anxiety and stress into our lives. But if we form our will to that of God’s our light shines even brighter as God’s light envelopes all we have. We become one with Him. So, let your light shine.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
