Resting in the Lord
When we think of the works of the Lord we first think of creation. The six days God used to create the world as we know it. What we don’t often think about is the work of ‘rest”. How do we rest in the Lord? Many books have been written to explain resting in the Lord. It takes a lot of work to read any number of them.
I think of our individuality. We are all so wonderfully made. And because of this we will all have a different way of resting in the Lord. One size does not fit all. Then how do I find that rest?
You might already have an idea. What activities in your life give you rest, relaxation, joy, a sense of being in the presence of God? There are so many ways, but for you, they may not be so obvious. People often say they did work on Sunday. When I ask why, the response is usually because I had to. They have a reason.
This is our heart telling us we have not spent time resting in the Lord. Listen to your heart. It will tell you when you have found that resting in the Lord. If you must work, then take time later in the week to spend with the Lord. You will discover that peace in your life only God can bring about.
May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and if the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
