If Today You Hear His Voice

The Hebrew people wondering in the desert for forty years tested the Lord. They wanted food and water. If they had just offered prayers, I think God would have granted their request. Instead, they tested the Lord. Why did you drag us out here – just to die.

When you ask God for something do you test Him, too.

Remember, that generation that left Egypt and wandered about in the desert for forty years never made it into the Promised Land. They all died in the desert. It was their grandchildren who entered the Promised Land. And their grandchildren would have only known life in the desert. They would not have memories of Egypt. When they complained, ‘did you drag us out here to die’ they were making a prophetic statement. They did die, but their children did not know of the evil of Egypt.

The man with leprosy said “If you wish…” What a great way to start a prayer to God. If you wish God, you could _______(you fill in the blank.). And let’s be in a quiet place when we ask God. If you are in the busyness of life and work, how will you ever hear Him? And really listen to the Word at mass. This may be the day you hear His voice.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and if the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
