Here are links to our readings for the day:

The Day I Was Born

Even Job’s wife has said curse God and die. Things are so bad, so miserable, what is left? Job opens his mouth to curse, not God, but the day he was born. Which includes all of the horrible things happening to him in this timeframe.

Have you ever cursed the day you were born? Many things happen to people, bad things for which we do not have an answer. We wonder why I was ever born. We wonder why God is allowing these things to happen to me. It could be the loss of a child, a divorce, an untimely death of a friend who died too young. Job did not curse God in all of this. He cursed the misfortune.

As we work our way through the book of Job remember this day. We do not want to curse anything. That belongs to God. And God is God. We are not created to understand the mind of God, either here on earth or in heaven. God will reveal to us what we need when we need it. As we are made in the image of God, we can seek to know Him and come to some understanding. Just as those who have suffered a great loss over time learn to manage the pain and suffering so, too, will we as we seek God.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
