Lord, I Am Not Worthy

Meetings! You love them or you hate them. People are always claiming you have meetings to get things done. There seems to be an underlying thought that meetings must be productive. What is your criteria that defines a successful meeting?

I have always thought a meeting being productive if it has helped the poor, the marginalized, or helped people grow in faith. Paul is concerned about people meeting together. It seems they only had their interest at heart.

You are involved with a weekly meeting. It is called mass. We have an agenda. You have an assignment, look at the readings before you come to mass so that you are prepared to get the most out of this meeting. Minutes of the past meeting are in the readings. They have been pre-approved.

Then we get to the action part where you participate in changing your heart. Notice the meeting with the centurion. He sent others asking Jesus for a meeting. Just before Jesus gets to the meeting the centurion sends word, Lord I am not worthy to have you enter under my roof but just say the word and my soul will be healed. Done. Complete. Nothing more needed. Is this your faith?

On September 12th the Church venerates the Holy Name of the Blessed Virgin Mary because of her unique privilege as the holiest of creatures, the Mother of God, and the Queen of Heaven and Earth. Her name is therefore a royal one of the highest order, and as such should be given the greatest honor after that of her Divine Son, Jesus Christ.

Instituted in 1513, the feast commemorates all the privileges given to Mary by God, and all the graces we have received through her intercession and mediation.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
