Who Do You Turn To?
The Corinthians were visited by many people. Some agreed with Paul, others to someone named Apollos, still others to whoever the charismatic person of day.
They are like a flash in the pan. A big flash and the spark goes out. Did you let them agitate you? Did you get that instant flash of anger, stress, or frustration? They were a flash in the pan but notice, you are still thinking about them. Why?
Paul claims it is because we have not matured with our faith. We are like infants not able to take solid food. We may think we can handle our faith but, think of the many times you are tempted and fail. Do you really believe you have a strong faith?
A person who has a strong faith is one who is patient, humble, and filled with charity. When challenged who do you turn to? People just naturally turned to Jesus. Why? Because He never turned anyone away. He was able to cure their illnesses and forgive their sins. Even when He and His disciples sought out a quiet place to pray and could find none, He welcomed the people with open arms. People were always more important than anything else.
Do you turn to someone who is only concerned with their needs? Or do you find someone who is empathetic and desires to help you. Even if they cannot help you, it is good to know someone knows and understands what you are going through.
Paul would suggest that the Spirit of God is working through both of you to feed you spiritually. The world’s problems are no match for the love of God.
May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
