Mind of the Lord

The Corinthians were beginning to drift away from Paul’s earlier teachings about Jesus. We are not sure what Paul has heard about the Corinthians, but it must have been enough that he must write them something.

It seems that others are teaching the Corinthians that they only need a life that is good, be kind to one another, and treat each other with respect. This sounds pretty good and logical. Why would this be a problem to Paul? Paul calls this worldly wisdom. There is no spiritual element in this way of thinking. It is based only on human wisdom. Where is the wisdom of God? Where is the Spirit of God?

We have not received the spirit of the world, but the Spirit of God. Through this Spirit working through us we can understand the Spirit of God.

Worldly wisdom is folly to God. Spiritual wisdom is seeking to understand Jesus. We desire to go deeper into His Incarnation, His death, His resurrection, and His Ascension. The deeper we go the more we desire to enter the wisdom of God. The mystery of the life of Christ prompts us to speak of spiritual things rather than dwell with earthly things. It is good to know the philosophies and logic of the world. Better still is to know the love of the spiritual dwelling of God.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
