Self-Sacrificing Love

Paul came to preach the Gospel. What is special about that? It is special because Jesus told his disciples to out into the world baptizing in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Paul is an Apostle, but his mission is different. Preaching or baptizing they are doing the will of God. God will send them to the people chosen.

Paul’s message is unique in that he challenges the conventions of wisdom of his day. Self-sacrificing love even today is a challenge for our culture. What are you willing to sacrifice?

I think it depends on how much you love. The greater the love the greater the sacrifice.  Greeks and Jews thought this foolish. As Catholics we can accept the sacrifice, most of the time. I don’t think too many of us have been tested severely. Then I wonder just how deeply we love our neighbor.

For three years we are celebrating a Eucharistic Revival. God so loved the world that He sent His only Son to die for us to grant us redemption. His Son died for us; He was sacrificed. But He did not leave us. He is always with us in the form of bread and wine. Amazing how God would choose to love us.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
