The Pharisee Inside Me

The Pharisees are at it again. They ask Jesus for a sign that proves Him to be who He says He is. They just do not want to accept the fact that Jesus is the Messiah.

When you consider all the miracles He has done, the healings and curing of the sick, what more would you need to believe? The Pharisee inside me would like to have a sign, too. Sometimes we just feel like that. If there was just some definite sign that would convince us all completely. But would that be?

I think we would all need a sign specifically designed for each of us. On second thought, whatever we would choose, because we chose it, would it be enough? I mean we conjured it up in our own mind. And God is larger than my mind. How could I possibly think up a sign that would be that great, that awesome, that totally definitive that Jesus is the Son of God?

And that is exactly what God did. His Son whom He loved, died on the cross for our sins and rose again from the dead because He loved us.

Then He ascended into heaven to sit at the right hand of God, His Father. Could anything else be more impossible? Could you have dreamed up anything so wonderful. I didn’t think so.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen
