Here are links to our readings for the day:

Jesus said it is enough for the disciple to become like the master. In a sense we are to become doppelgangers for Christ. We are to look like Christ.

Of course, not physically, but spiritually. He calls us to be His disciples meaning we are to learn from Him. He gives His disciples the power to heal the sick and love the lost and forsaken. He gives us His power to walk on water and live our life according to His commandments. We are to love our neighbor as He loves our neighbor.

But He gives us a warning too. If His adversaries can claim He works for Beelzebul how do you think they will label you and me? If they are willing to scourge and beat Jesus, how do you think they will treat us?

Jesus counteracts all of this by saying “Be not afraid.” That seems easier said than done. Especially in our culture today. It seems we are being attacked from many sides for many reasons.

Then we need to remember that God is in control. We must remember to trust Him. The more we grow in faith we must recognize that the evil one will try to tempt us. Which brings us closer to Jesus. Summer is not a time to take vacation from our faith. With the beauty of God’s creation all around us we should desire to want to be more with Him everywhere.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen
