Sufficient for a day is its own evil.
God grants gifts and talents to each of us. We are to use them in proper order. What is this proper order? Of course, God first.
We need to realize everything we have is a gift from God. These gifts are to be used for the greater glory of God. Sometimes we fall into the trap of only giving back to God what we think we should give back. This is a trap because how much should you give back to God who gave you everything? 10% 20% or ??
Throughout the Bible we are told not to judge. Matter of fact, even with how we forgive others will be how we are forgiven. We are to be generous in how we forgive others. Then should we give to God 60% 70% or ?? I think we have just made the walls of the trap unbelievably high.
Let’s set the material stuff aside. God gave us His Son who came to earth, emptying Himself of His divinity to become human and die for us. How do you put a value on that? We cannot.
If God has given us everything and His Son what is the least we should give back to Him? Everything. No percentages. If we give God a percentage then expect that back.
When we give God everything then He will give us everything we need. And will grant us an abundance of grace to share with others. Particularly when it comes to the evil we experience in a day. We are not to contribute to the evil permitted by God, but work to eliminate the evil by not contributing to the evil.
Thus, sufficient for a day is its own evil. Today, walk with God.
May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
