The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit

How can something so easy to say be so difficult to understand?  It is simply a mystery.  Something we will never fully understand.

The Gospel tells us that everything is of the Father.  The Holy Spirit will take from the Father what is needed for each of us.  The Son became human to make it easier for God to relate to us.

The Son suffered, as we do, but He also redeemed us so that one day we may be one with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.  The Holy Spirit comes from the love of the Father and the Son to guide us and teach us how we are to be holy.  The Holy Spirit guides us through truth.

Jesus tells us that there is much more He wants to tell us, but we are not ready to accept all His teachings.  How are we to understand such perfect love?  To love God with all our heart, mind, strength, and soul and to love our neighbor as ourselves is no simple task.  If anything, we are advised that there will be problems, trials, and afflictions that we will need to experience.  But if we have love, we have hope.  We experience God’s love in our lives even in the worst and most difficult situations.

So, let’s not focus on how we explain our three in one God, but on the love that He pours upon us.  The gospel indicates that love is like a liquid that is generously poured out upon us.  This love fills us.  Now we must pour this love into all the people we meet.  Our family, friends, and people we work with. Perhaps that is the best explanation of God, freely and generously pouring out His love upon others.

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen
