Here are links to our readings for the day:

Careful Listening

Paul is preaching and teaching and many are converting to Christianity. He stayed in Corinth for a year and a half. Then government officials changed. A small group of people confront the new Governor claiming that Paul is misleading the people. But as we read the new Governor wanted nothing to do with a religious problem. He did not want to hear it. He did not want to listen.

I wish I could have heard what Paul was teaching. He had the best of educations and was a very intelligent man. Just look at what we have learned from him in his letters of the New Testament. We could have listened to him every day.

Contrast that to the new Governor. He did not want to listen at all. What if Pontius Pilot had done the same? If he just would have kicked the Jewish leaders out of court.

Now, what do you listen to? Endless news programs promoting their bias? Talk shows that have no bearing at all about what is happening in this world? No one knowing what the truth is. All they do is stress you out, make you angry, and create division. Why are you listening?

Careful listening happens best when listening to God. And the best place to listen is in the adoration chapel. Are you listening?

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen
