Adoration
Bishop Powers is asking each parish to host an adoration opportunity. Beginning June 2022 and concluding in June 2024. Each Wednesday evening a different parish will be hosting adoration so that the Eucharist is exposed and adored in each of our 103 church buildings. This act of passing the adoration from week to week through each parish is a call to unity in the Eucharist across our diocese.
What is it? The Eucharistic Adoration that parishes will participate in as a part of the National Eucharist Revival should consist of three parts:
- Exposition
- Time of Adoration
- Benediction
Parishes should have the Blessed Sacrament available for a least 1 hour but may decide on a longer timeframe.
While there should be a period of silence during this, there can be music that is reflective and orientated toward worship of the Lord. Prayers such as the Rosary, Divine Mercy Chaplet, or a Litany are appropriate. You can take time to read materials that are focused on the Eucharist. Plans for confession should also be included.
As we move forward, if you are interested in assisting with this revival, please let me know.
May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
