Stuff

We have so much. A home, a car, many furnishings, and so much more. I walked through the Knights of Columbus garage sale. So much –  stuff. And more stuff.

And it was all donated. Donated by people who have even more stuff. It is good that the Knights can offer this as a rummage sale. But what they are offering we must remember was donated from our surplus. Do you think anyone who donated is regretting what they donated?

In the gospel in the disciples knew how many days wages it would take to feed the people. How many days wages are sitting at the Knights rummage sale? Can we say anyone is in need, honestly?

I am not meaning to condemn anyone, nor chastise anyone, or make anyone feel uncomfortable. But stop and think a minute. What did you spend on this stuff you donated? What would the world be like if you had not bought this stuff but donated the full amount to charity? There’s a thought!!! Have you sent people home hungry and in need because you needed this stuff you have just given away?

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.  Amen
