Above and Below

I was trying to mentally count how many times we have heard the message to feed the hungry give water to the thirsty, clothe the naked, visit the sick and those in prison. There are many other gospels who give us the same mandate. Now, honestly, is it working?

There are two kinds of love. A love where we love God and follow Him; or a love of self where we only focus on our selves. The first love is a holy fear of God wanting to do whatever we can to please Him. The second love is a base, lustful type of love focusing on our desires.

How does that work in our culture today? It seems the rich are getting richer, and the poor are getting poorer. Think of it this way. If a member of your family were hungry, would you not feed them? If we really believed that Jesus is in the homeless person on the street, would we not feed him?

When you make a donation to the church, is it the dollars that are extra? Or do you first determine what you can offer to a God who gives you everything. Jesus is the God from above who gives up everything to come to the below to be like us except in sin. He did not succumb to sin to show us the way to the Father above.

Where are you?

May the Lord bless you in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit. Amen
