Remember Your Teachers?
Not coming from a Catholic School of course I do not have any recollections of stern nuns with rulers. It is with amazement that I listen to other Catholics tell of their fears and horrors from the hands of nuns. I am probably thankful that I went to a public school. I cannot recall any instance of someone being slapped with a ruler, although I do one teacher who threw an eraser at a child.
James is right, not all of us are cut out to be teachers. We entrust our children to teachers, hoping and praying our children will receive a good education and grow to be respected leaders in our communities. But as James points out it takes only one evil tongue to influence many to follow the wrong path. So, how are parents, our school, and parish to help our children grow with a great education? Remember, it takes a village to raise a child.
One way is to be involved with our school’s education program. Even if you do not have children in the Catholic school you are contributing to the school and its program. Are you asking how? Because the parish subsidizes the school. It costs about $8,000 to educate one child for one year. Tuition is about $3,000. We fund raise about another $1,500. You see the picture.
The parish pays for the balance. About $3,500 and that comes from the weekly donations of all parish members. With this information what happens in our school is extremely important to everyone. You should have a voice, right! You do. We are conducting a survey. It is quick and easy. Only one question. Go to stjosephricelake.org. Click on school and look for the Ultimate Question. The ultimate question is what you think of our school. That’s it. Tell us what you think.
Or, Here is a link to take the survey on the school website –https://sjsricelake.org/ultim
